Delegation from Switzerland has visited Novosibirsk
From 3 to 5 September, a delegation of representatives of Swiss business visited Novosibirsk. The welcoming party was The Union «Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry» and the Government of the Novosibirsk Region with the support of the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in Russia.
Within the schedule of their business trip to Novosibirsk the guests have visited: JSC «Agency for investment development of the Novosibirsk region», JSC «Innovative medical and technological center» (Medical Technopark), Technopark of Novosibirsk Akademgorodok (Academpark), Center of Financial Technologies, institutes of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as the Russian-Swiss company «FISCHER Spindle Technology» LLC.
On September 3, the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a business meeting of the Swiss guests with representatives of Novosibirsk companies.

Welcoming the participants of the meeting, Yuri Bernadsky stressed that the Novosibirsk region is a promising region for the development of foreign economic relations. Foreign trade turnover of Novosibirsk companies is growing every year. The ten largest partners of the region in Europe include such EU countries as Germany, France, Scandinavian countries, Bulgaria, Luxembourg. The president of the NCCCI expressed hope that Switzerland will soon become one of the key European partners of the Novosibirsk region.
Yuri Bernadsky spoke about the priority sectors of the Novosibirsk region, which are based on innovations and non-resources sector. In the region there are leading large enterprises of electro-technical and heavy engineering, agro-industrial complex, medical and chemical industry, which supply their products to dozens of countries. There are technoparks operating in the field of IT, biotechnology, medicine, instrument-making. In addition, Novosibirsk is a major transport, logistics and trade center.
Members of the Swiss delegation were presented by Mr. Guy Mettan. He noted that the members of the delegation represented the leading sectors of the economy of the Canton of Geneva, such as: financial and banking, legal, consulting, oil, health, education, construction and architecture sectors. He said that our regions have established cooperation in the scientific sphere. The companies and institutes of Akademgorodok work with the University of Geneva, the Polytechnic University of Lausanne and the European Centre for nuclear physics in Geneva. Therefore, the purpose of the visit of the Swiss delegation is to establish economic cooperation, to identify promising mutually beneficial areas for business.
Mr. Vincent Subilia noted that during the visit to Novosibirsk, the members of the delegation saw a lot in common in the economy of the two regions, in particular, a diversified nature, as well as the development of innovative companies. According to him, Geneva is famous as the capital of chocolate and banks, but it is less known that today the priority is the development of innovative areas. Today, new industries related to biotechnology are developing in Geneva.
The participants of the business meeting presented the economic potential of their companies, outlined options for cooperation. In the mutual opinion of the parties, the meeting in Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry demonstrated a high level of mutual understanding and partnership. At the same time, the parties intend to continue to increase effective cooperation; in particular, an agreement was reached on the conclusion of a cooperation agreement between the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chambers of Geneva and Switzerland.
