Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region plans to enhance its cooperation with Novosibirsk

On  August 14, the President of the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Yuri Bernadsky met with the delegation of representatives of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region headed by the Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of Karamai Mr. Borhan Kahar.

Head of the Department of Economics and Trade of the city of Karamai Linyun Duan, General Director of International Fishery Co., LTD. Luo Jun, Head of Business Development with China «Expobank» LLC Lyu Inin, Head of Foreign Trade Development Department of «Expobank» Elena Tolkacheva participated in the negotiations. The purpose of the visit of the Chinese delegation is explore the possibility of cooperation between the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Novosibirsk Region.

According to Mr. Kahar, the extraction and processing of oil is the main economy of the city of Karamai. Today, annual oil production is about 11 million tons. More than 100 companies of the city are engaged in the production of various equipment for the extraction and processing of oil and petroleum products. However, it is planned to develop other areas of the economy, in particular, information technologies, logistics, etc. The search for new, interesting projects became one of the reasons for the visit of the delegation to the Novosibirsk region.

Yuri Bernadsky noted that the Novosibirsk city CCI has a great deal of experience in arranging business negotiations between businessmen of the two countries. China is one of the key partners of the Novosibirsk region. Economic potential of the region provides wide opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. To this end it was necessary to establish an exchange of relevant information on working conditions in the markets of both countries, to organize business missions and to increase mutual participation in exhibitions.

The parties also discussed a number of other issues of economic cooperation between business circles of Russia and China.
