Economic aspects of Russian exports to the Federative Republic of Brazil
On February 18, within the framework of cooperation between the Investment Promotion Agency of the Novosibirsk Region and the trade missions of Russia in foreign countries with the information support of the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry was held a webinar “Hour with the Trade Representative” dedicated to the development of trade and economic cooperation between the Novosibirsk Region and the Federative Republic of Brazil.
The event was attended by the Russian Trade Representative in the Federative Republic of Brazil Victor Sheremetker, head of the regional marketing and foreign economic activity of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Novosibirsk region Anna Davydova, Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion Agency of the Novosibirsk Region Vasiliy Plotnikov, Vice-President of the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tatyana Bernadskaya, representatives of Novosibirsk companies interested in entering the Brazilian market.
Anna Davydova made a welcoming speech on behalf of the Government of the Novosibirsk region. She told about the volume of exports and imports between the countries. The basis of exports is the products of the coal industry, imports — products of agricultural engineering.
Welcoming the participants of the webinar, Victor Sheremetker noted that the Trade Representation holds an online meeting with entrepreneurs of Siberian regions for the first time.
The trade representative told the Novosibirsk entrepreneurs about the order and peculiarities of entering the Brazilian market. In particular he noted that the political structure of Brazil gives wide autonomy to federal, regional and municipal authorities, including tax policy.
In view of geographical remoteness of two countries logistics of goods delivery is very important; the main types of transport are the sea transport and the air transport.
The Trade mission is ready to provide comprehensive support in the search for partners, and their initial verification, organization of both online negotiations and meetings with partners in Brazil.
As far as legal support for companies is concerned, assistance and advice are also provided within the competence of the trade mission.
In order to work in the Brazilian market, it is necessary to certify products. Certificates from other countries are not accepted in Brazil, and must be validated. It’s important to know that European and American certificates are validated faster than others.
Victor Sheremetker referred to the peculiarities of Brazilian market as the fact that Brazilian economy is one of the largest economies in the world and the largest economy in Latin America. The Brazilian consumer market alone amounts to about 210 million people. In addition, this market has a high solvent demand. Russia is Brazil’s third import partner.
During the online meeting the Russian Trade Representative in Brazil answered specific questions of entrepreneurs of the Novosibirsk region, and the parties exchanged useful links and contacts for further cooperation. In total more than 20 representatives of Novosibirsk business took part in the event with the assistance of the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
