Expand cooperation between Novosibirsk companies and the People’s Republic of China discussed in Novosibirsk

On December 3, a webinar on collaboration between entities of the Novosibirsk region and China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (hereinafter as CCCME) was held.

The event was attended by the deputy minister for Economic Development of the Novosibirsk region Anna Pavlova, the Vice President of the CCCME Shi Yonghong, Advisor to the Director General for International Affairs of the Investment Promotion Agency of the Novosibirsk Region Vasiliy Plotnikov, Chief Foreign Relations Specialist of the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (hereinafter as NCCCI) Julia Naumkina, representatives of Chinese companies and Novosibirsk companies, including the members of the NCCCI.

Online negotiations were organized by the Ministry for Economic Development of the Novosibirsk region together with the CCCME. During the negotiations, the parties discussed priority areas for the development of bilateral cooperation in trade and economic, scientific and technical spheres.

Anna Pavlova spoke about the economic potential of the region. She noted the favorable geographical location, which has a positive effect on the development of wholesale trade and allows building an optimal delivery system of goods to the regions of Siberia, the European part of Russia and Kazakhstan.

According to the results of the first half of 2021, trade turnover with China increased by 1.4 times. Today 129 joint Russian-Chinese companies are registered in the region. Anna Pavlova looks forward to continue cooperation between the Novosibirsk region and China.

Vice President of CCCME Mr. Shi Yonghong presented data on foreign trade turnover between China and Russia, in particular in the field of mechanical engineering it amounted to 32.7 billion dollars for 10 months of 2021. He noted that despite the impact of the pandemic, China’s economy is growing, including foreign trade.

Mr. Shi Yonghong noted such directions for interaction with Novosibirsk region as signing of agreements for creation of effective platform for cooperation between the Chinese Chamber and the Government of Novosibirsk region and business associations of Novosibirsk; information exchange; holding joint events; selecting partners and their verification; establishment of business contacts with management and business associations of different Chinese provinces and other services. Chinese companies interested in cooperation with Novosibirsk business in such innovative areas as digital economy, artificial intelligence, 5G, cooperation with Russian research companies and commercialization of their products.

During the webinar, representatives of the Novosibirsk region got answers to the urgent questions of economic activities and exchanged contacts.

Summing up the results of the event, the parties noted mutual interest in the development of long-term trade and economic relations and agreed to cooperate on business events with the participation of Novosibirsk and Chinese entrepreneurs.
