Novosibirsk entrepreneurs took part in the discussion of cooperation with Egypt

On April 16 the Council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation on Foreign Economic Activity held a webinar on «Prospects and peculiarities of doing business with Egypt».

The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Council on Foreign Economic Activity Anton Akimov, Head of International Projects Development of the Russian Export Center (Middle East and Africa) Najibullo Jabbori, Advisor of the Special Trade Regulation Issues Division of the Trade Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission Vitaly Aristov, Chairman of the Russian-Egyptian Business Council (REBC) Mikhail Orlov,  Development Director of the REBC Nina Sukhareva, as well as entrepreneurs from Russian regions, including Novosibirsk.

Mr. Anton Akimov spoke on the current trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Egypt, promising areas for mutual trade.

Mr. Najibullo Jabbori spoke about the measures of state support for exports provided by the Russian Export Center in the direction of the Arab Republic of Egypt. According to the results of 2023, he highlighted the most demanded sectors of cooperation: agro-industrial complex, timber processing, chemical, metallurgical, machine-building industries. The permanent food show-room, where food products of more than 50 Russian manufacturing companies are already presented, was named the most outstanding event on the territory of Egypt. The creation of a Russian industrial zone is under consideration.

Mr. Vitaly Aristov made a brief report on the preparation of a draft agreement on a free trade zone between Russia and Egypt, due to the fact that 85% of exports to Egypt fall on the EAEU countries and Russia, also from 2024 Egypt joined the list of BRICS countries, becoming a full member of the alliance.

Mr. Mikhail Orlov and Mrs Nina Sukhareva presented reports on the peculiarities of doing business in Egypt and mistakes of cooperation.  They shared their observations on negotiating in Russia and Egypt, the importance of family business in Egypt and the whole Middle East, and the Egyptian business community’s vision of cooperation with Russian companies.
