Online business mission to the Sultanate of Oman was organized

On August 30, 2023, the Russian-Arab Business Council together with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment of Oman held an online business mission for Russian companies.

The event was attended by  Deputy Minister of Investment and Promotion at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment H.E. Ibtisam Al Farudji,  Chairman of the Russian-Arab Business Council (RABC) Tatiana Gvilava, Head of the Investment Promotion Agency at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment Mohammed Al Lavati, Head of Marketing and Investment at the Special Economic and Free Zones Authority Thuraya Al Zarafi and  representatives of industrial and investment companies, as well as more than 200 Russian companies.

Mrs. H.E. Ibtisam Al Farudji addressed the participants with welcoming remarks and spoke about the development and strengthening of Russian-Omani relations. In 2020, the trade turnover between the countries reached about 195 million Omani rials, now after the covid restrictions Oman is again open for cooperation in the field of investment and increasing exports of its products to foreign markets.

Tatiana Gvilava noted that the online business mission is the second event with the participation of RABC. In June 2023 the visit of the RABC delegation to Oman took place. Business relations between the countries are maintained at the highest level. In 2022 the growth of trade turnover between Russia and Oman amounted to 46%. Mrs. Gwilawa also noted the spheres for cooperation with Russian companies: IT, agriculture, food security, transport and logistics, tourism, mining, agro-industrial complex, investment cooperation.

At the meeting the participants heard reports on the economic and investment potential of the Sultanate of Oman, as well as free economic zones.

At the end of the meeting it was proposed to transfer the questions received from the Russian side to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment of Oman for further processing and targeted response.
