RAIL FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION — A PROMISING DIRECTION IN LOGISTICS

On November 15, the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia held a conference on «Exploiting the potential of the Vietnam-China-Russia international route». 

Mr. Truong Hoang Minh in his welcoming speech noted the positive dynamics in cooperation between Vietnam, Russia and China. Cooperation in rail freight transportation, including intermodal transportation, plays an increasing role in this.

Vyacheslav Kharinov spoke about the existing obstacles to cooperation (underdeveloped logistics routes, problems of mutual settlements between the countries), as well as the prospects of cooperation between the three countries in the field of rail transportation, its advantage over maritime transportation and air transportation. According to forecasts, the volume of rail freight transportation will increase 3-4 times in the coming years.

Also during the videoconference, the participants presented reports on the cooperation between China Railway and Vietnamese and Russian partners in transit freight transportation, including the situation and solutions for transit freight transportation through China, the improvement of rail freight transportation between Russia and Vietnam, and the services provided by Russian, Vietnamese and Chinese logistics companies.

At the end of the conference, Mr. Dang Minh Khoi summarized the results of the conference, noting the potential of rail freight transportation between the three countries and the development of the Vietnam-China-Russia corridor, and called on entrepreneurs and government officials to exchange relevant information on logistics, economics, and amendments to regulations of the countries, and to hold seminars on trade and economic relations for entrepreneurs.
