Novosibirsk region and the Kingdom of Thailand strengthen cultural and business ties

On June 7-10, as part of the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Thailand, the delegation headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation Sasiwat Wongsinsawat visited Novosibirsk region.

On June 7, the Ambassador held an informal meeting with the representatives of Novosibirsk region. The meeting was attended by the First Secretary of the Royal Thai Embassy in the Russian Federation Kanokphan Chinsawananon, the Minister Counsellor for Agriculture the Royal Thai Embassy in the Russian Federation Songkhla Chulakasian, the representative of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Novosibirsk Nikolay Afonasov, the Minister of Culture of the Novosibirsk region Yuri Zemnyakov, the President of the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Yuri Bernadsky and the Vice-president of the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tatyana Bernadskaya, representatives of the cultural and creative intelligentsia of the region.

Mr. Sasiwat Wongsinsawat emphasized that he had come to Novosibirsk to get acquainted with the potential of the Novosibirsk region. The program of stay of the delegation includes meeting with the Governor, visiting of Akademgorodok, Novosibirsk State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, and opening of the art exhibition devoted to the 125th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations that will be hold in the Novosibirsk State Art Museum.

The exhibition «In the Land of the Emerald Buddha» will be hold in 18 cities of Ural region, Sibearia and the Russian Far East. The composition of the exhibition: more than 130 works of painting, graphics, arts and crafts, created during creative expeditions to the Kingdom of Thailand by Russian artists.

Yuri Bernadsky noted that the visit of a delegation from the Kingdom of Thailand to the Novosibirsk region is important not only for the development of cultural ties, but also business relations between the countries. He told about the peculiarities of economic development of the Novosibirsk region, noting the diversified economy of the region, which is based on innovations and non-resource sector. He also emphasized that the Novosibirsk City Chamber of Commerce and Industry has extensive experience in organizing business negotiations of entrepreneurs from different countries both in Russia and abroad

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed readiness to jointly assist businesspersons from both countries in establishing bilateral contacts, which later on will lead to implementation of effective business projects.
